To accomplish its work, the IHN forms Workgroups to conduct detailed implementation planning around specific focus areas. Examples of current Workgroups are discussed below: 

Breast Cancer Referral Initiative Workgroup
The Breast Cancer Referral Initiative Workgroup is charged with improving referral processes for patients in need of breast cancer treatment.  

NMPI Steering Committee and Planning Group
The Network Master Patient Index (NMPI) Steering Committee and Planning Group lead efforts for the implementation of the NMPI health information exchange. The NMPI will improve patient care by enabling the secure exchange of electronic patient health information across community health centers and hospital emergency departments in the region.  

Clinical Best Practices Workgroup
The Clinical Best Practices Workgroup is charged with enhancing application of the Chronic Disease Care Model and clinical best practices across IHN providers. The Care Model is a patient-centered model for chronic disease management promoted by the Bureau of Primary Health Care.
