To accomplish its work, the IHN forms Workgroups to conduct detailed implementation planning around specific focus areas. Examples of current Workgroups are discussed below: 

Breast Cancer Referral Initiative Workgroup
The Breast Cancer Referral Initiative Workgroup is charged with improving referral processes for patients in need of breast cancer treatment.  

NMPI Steering Committee and Planning Group
The Network Master Patient Index (NMPI) Steering Committee and Planning Group lead efforts for the implementation of the NMPI health information exchange. The NMPI will improve patient care by enabling the secure exchange of electronic patient health information across community health centers and hospital emergency departments in the region.  

Health Center/Hospital Referral Task Force
The Health Center/Hospital Referral Task Force (HCHR) is charged with providing input and strategic direction for the Community Referral Coordinator Program. HCHR will explore ways to strengthen the communication between administration in hospital emergency departments and community health centers.

Census 2010 Health Center Workgroup                                                                                The Census 2010 Health Center Workgroup is charged with promoting activities at different health centers that will highlight Census 2010.
