What Can I Expect?

Health centers offer affordable, quality services to patients who want great doctors and nurses focused on comprehensive care. IHN health centers serve nearly 200,000 residents in the St. Louis metropolitan area total and average 45 years of service.

The following attempts to prepare new patients for a quality health center visit.

About Providers (Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Dentists and Dental Hygienists)

Network health centers boast some of the best doctors and nurses in the region. Doctors were trained in top schools including Washington University – St. Louis, Saint Louis University, and Harvard Medical School. If you have a preference for a particular doctor or nurse, please inform your health center.

Amount of Time with Doctor

The time your doctor or nurse practitioner will spend with you can range from 15 minutes to over an hour depending on your condition.

Materials to Bring

If you have insurance

The community health centers accept most private insurance plans, as well as Medicaid and Medicare.

  • Insurance card
  • Photo ID (or other identification)

If you do not have insurance

Community health centers provide services at a reduced cost to patients without insurance who qualify. In order to qualify, you
must show proof of eligibility. You will need supporting documents verifying your eligibility. Contact your health center to find out
the type of document you will need to bring.

Sample documents include:

  • Proof of income
  • Pay stub
  • Proof of address
  • Social Services Letter of Verification
  • Unemployment Office Letter of Verification
